Andrew Snow

A career professional for over twenty-five years, Andrew Snow is very active in many musical endeavors throughout the Chicago area. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Cello Performance from Northern Illinois University, where he was a student of Marc Johnson, and matriculated with a Master Degree in Cello Performance from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.

Professional highlights of Mr. Snow's career include playing the complete Ring Cycle under Zubin Mehta with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, performing with the Milwaukee Symphony under Pinchas Zukerman, and performing with the Chicago Philharmonic conducted by Jesus Lopez Cobos, Sir Andrew Davis, Larry Rachleff, and Scott Speck. He has participated in various festivals as well, including the Cleveland Institute Festival, Aspen Music Festival , Grand Teton Music Festival, Grant Park Music Festival, and the Ravinia Festival.

With his wife, pianist Beatriz Helguera-Snow, he has performed in several recital halls in Mexico City and Guadalajara, including Sala Carlos Chavez (as part of the International Music Series), Sala Ponce in the Palace of Fine Arts (Bellas Artes), and Sala Julian Carrillo of UNAM Radio (University of Mexico Radio). He is a member of the Chicago Ensemble, where he has performed numerous times on classical WFMT radio in live performance broadcasts.

For almost a decade, Mr. Snow was the cellist of the Lyra Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at Carthage College in Wisconsin, where they would perform several programs every year with music varying from Baroque to contemporary. He was also principal cellist with Kenosha Symphony for several years.

Mr. Snow is currently a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta, Lake Forest Symphony (assistant principal cellist), and the Chicago Philharmonic. He has played with Grant Park Symphony, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Chicago Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Milwaukee Symphony, Chicago String Ensemble, Ars Viva, Chicago Symphonic Pops (acting as principal cellist on a Taiwanese tour), Lyric Opera of Chicago, Dallas Lyric Opera, Plano Texas Chamber Orchestra (as principal cello), Filarmonica Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City), and many more. He has also played with the Contemporary Chamber Players, Fulcrum Point, and Chicago Chamber Orchestra, and has also been invited to perform with international stars such as Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Frank Sinatra, Luciano Pavarotti and many more.
