Dave Belden

Dave Belden (violin) first joined the Sinfonietta for its tour of Switzerland and Germany in 1992. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, where he studied with Myron Kartman. He also spent two summers at Interlochen Fine Arts camp, and three summers at the Alfred University Chamber Music Institute. Dave freelances all around Chicago, and has performed with the Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Chicago Opera Theater, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Philharmonic, Lake Forest Symphony, Chicago String Ensemble, eighth blackbird, Final Fantasy Distant Worlds, Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, Legend of Zelda, Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Susan Boyle (on Oprah), Bjork, Celtic Woman, Apostolic Church of God, Mel Torme, Smokey Robinson, Dennis DeYoung, Tributosaurus, Michael Feinstein, Johnny Frigo, and many others.

Dave is also an actor, recently appearing at Strawdog Theatre in Charles Ives Take Me Home, playing a violinist. He repeated this role at Curious Theatre in Denver in Winter 2015. Other theatre credits include Motel 666 (WildClaw), The Jewels (TUTA), Cyrano (Chicago Shakespeare), Boy Small (The Fine Print), Uncle Vanya (Court Theatre), The Tell-Tale Heart (Blair Thomas & Co.), The Sandman (Oracle Theatre), The Three Sisters and Lady Chaplin & Her Tramp (Piven Theatre), Earth to Margaret (Acorn Theatre), The Taming of the Shrew and Love's Labor's Lost (Chicago Shakespeare). Some of his film credits include Blood and Eye of the Sandman.

Dave also plays in the folk 'n roll band Midwest. Their debut EP, Come On Home, is available on iTunes.

Dave loves refurbishing his 1917 brick American foursquare, and has recently developed an obsession with leaf compost. His wife, MT Cozzola, is a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists. They have a dog named Django.
