Michael Shelton

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michael Shelton has been playing the violin for over fifty years. He studied with Daniel Guilet at Oklahoma University, then with Tadeusz Wronski at Indiana University where he won a number of scholarships.

Mr. Shelton is a tenured member of the Chicago Sinfonietta and has performed with notable Chicago ensembles such as the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Grant Park Music Festival, and Music of the Baroque; his professional career has led him to perform at the Taos Chamber Music Festival and at the Musikverein in Vienna.

He is a connoisseur of old music, having performed on the recorder, gamba, crumhorn, and Baroque violin. He also enjoys the outdoors, birding, hiking, and sailing in his spare time.

Mr. Shelton is affiliated with the Major Orchestral Librarians Association.
