Concert 1
SALUTE TO SIR DUKE

Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington is an American treasure. Classically informed, yet never less than swinging, his compositions are enduring landmarks of 20th century music. Now, for the first time, the Chicago Sinfonietta joins forces with the renowned Chicago Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jon Faddis, to explore facets of the great man’s work, from classics to jazz and back again. Rounding out the program is Harmonic Rhythm, featuring Sinfonietta timpanist Bobby Everson.
