Marketing Director 

 

Internship Opportunities

We are currently accepting resumes for an internship position with our organization. The position is unpaid; however we would love to help you receive academic credit. This position includes one-on-one mentoring with senior staff members and hands-on education in the day to day operations of a nonprofit performing arts organization. We try to cater your internship to your area(s) of interest, whether that is marketing, development, box office, or general management.

Responsibilities

Internship responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • General Office – Provide general office support including answering phones, copying, mailing, assisting with meetings, day-of concert support, and various other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Marketing – Assist the Director of Communications and Director of Sales with implementing marketing strategies to help the Sinfonietta gain additional recognition, assemble and distribute promotional materials, assist Box Office & Digital Media Manager with social media and general website maintenance.
  • Box Office – Provide support to the Box Office & Digital Media Manager, assisting with ticket orders, ticket mailing, will-call.
  • Development –  Assist Director of Development and Development Associate with grant research, annual fund, special event planning.
  • Education/Outreach – Create student program notes for Chicago Public School student concertgoers. Provide support to the Director of Education/Outreach.

 

Ideal Qualifications

  • Organized, hard-working undergraduate or graduate student studying arts, music, management, marketing or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on a variety of projects.
  • Working knowledge of the latest social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Sense of humor!

Internships will typically last 4-6 months depending on your school’s requirements and a number of hours you are able to commit to on a weekly basis. The Chicago Sinfonietta is currently accepting applications for a Production Intern. The intern will work closely with the Sinfonietta’s Production Manager/Librarian to produce concerts at Symphony Center and Wentz Concert Hall. Sample duties include:

1.    Assisting in preparations for concert productions, including organizing equipment for rehearsals and performances, and communicating with guest artists.
2.    Organizing, cataloging and maintaining archives of recordings and program notes.
3.    Assisting with library duty such as copying and distributing music
4.    General office duties

Ideal candidates will have a desire to learn about concert production and an interest in the performing arts.

Days/Hours: Preferred candidates should be available to work approximately 5 hours per week plus all rehearsals and concerts.

Salary: This is an unpaid position.

We are currently accepting resumes for a Development internship position with our organization. The Development Intern will receive a comprehensive overview of fundraising for a non-profit performing arts organizations. The position is unpaid; however includes hands-on education, one-on-one mentoring with senior staff members and assistance in receiving academic credit (if available).

Responsibilities:

Internship responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Perform funder and prospect research
  • Assist in writing funding requests for organization
  • Assist and facilitate with fundraising efforts for special events and concerts
  • Assemble materials for solicitations, meetings, concerts, and events
  • Data entry in our database management system, Salesforce
  • Be a liaison for the organization to various stakeholders including Board Members, donors, volunteers, and guests
  • Provide general office support including written and electronic communication, answering phones, copying, mailing, and various other administrative tasks as assigned

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Hard-working undergraduate or graduate student studying arts, music, management, development, marketing or a related field. Students pursuing a master’s degree in arts administration degree preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Design skills coveted.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, communication and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to take multi-task, take initiative, and work well under pressure in a small office environment.
  • Passion for the arts and music with a sense of creativity and humor.
  • Occasionally available to work evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Working knowledge of non-profit fundraising a plus!

The Marketing Intern will receive a comprehensive overview of marketing for a non-profit performing arts organizations. The position is unpaid; however includes hands-on education, one-on-one mentoring with senior staff members and assistance in receiving academic credit (if available).

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and distribute promotional materials
  • Assist Box Office Manager with ticketing and database management
  • Assist Marketing Associate with social media and general website maintenance through WordPress
  • Assist Marketing Director with e-blast design and implementation through MailChimp
  • Opportunities for copywriting and content creation including images, video, etc
  • Assist the Marketing Director and Marketing Associate with implementing marketing strategies

Ideal Qualifications

  • Organized, hard-working undergraduate or graduate student studying arts, music, management, marketing or a related field
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is not required but preferred
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on a variety of projects
  • Comfortable reading and writing in English
  • Working knowledge of the latest social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube
  • Sense of humor!
