Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Assistant Conductor  began her studies as a vocalist before dedicating her career to composition. In 1997, she was invited to study with Cristobal Halffter in his laboratory for composers in Spain. Ms. Arrieche completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Conducting and Composition at the State University of São Paulo in 2006, and in 2010, she was offered a full scholarship to Maestro Harold

Farberman’s Master Conducting Studio at Bard College. Last year, she completed her Arts Diploma in Orchestral Conducting with Maestro Gustav Meier at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. In 2011, she won the Taki Concordia Conducting Fellowship founded by Maestra Marin Alsop. Since then, she has assisted Ms. Alsop at the BSO and São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Brazil).

In addition to her studies, Ms. Arrieche has conducted master classes with Kurt Masur, Johannes Schlaefli, Cliff Colnot, Apo Hsu, Hugh Wolf, George Manahan and Robert Spano.

In 2007, Ms. Arrieche won the OSUSP Conducting Competition and became the assistant conductor of one of Brazil’s finest orchestras. In the following year, she attended the Festival Villa-Lobos as assistant conductor and music advisor and as a result of her work, she was asked to conduct a series of concerts with the main orchestra. Ms. Arrieche was also responsible for the Family’s concerts series which was a great success.

Motivated by the lack of opportunities for young Brazilian conductors to work with native orchestras, Ms. Arrieche created a series of conducting workshops in Brazil in 20092010. While she was in São Paulo, Ms. Arrieche conducted local youth orchestras modeled off the Venezuelan El Sistema program.

In 2012, she was invited to attend the Aspen Music Festival and School and in the same year, she was appointed as BSO-Peabody Conducting Fellow. Most recently, the Baltimore Symphony extended her contract for an additional season. In 2013, she guest conducted prestigious orchestras around the country, such as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Hartford Symphony, and garnered excellent reviews. In the upcoming 2014-2015 season, Ms. Arrieche will conduct performances with the Baltimore Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Orquestra Sinfonica de Porto Alegre and Chicago Sinfonietta.
