Administrative Intern
The Mission of the Chicago Sinfonietta is to serve as a national model for inclusiveness and innovation in classical music through the presentation of the highest quality orchestral concerts and related programs. The Chicago Sinfonietta aspires to remove the barriers to participation in, and appreciation of classical music through its educational and outreach programs that expose children and their families to classical music, and by providing professional development opportunities for young musicians and composers of diverse backgrounds enabling new, important voices to be heard.
We are currently accepting resumes for an internship position with our organization. The position is unpaid; however we would love to help you receive academic credit. This position includes one-on-one mentoring with senior staff members and hands-on education in the day to day operations of a nonprofit performing arts organization. We try to cater your internship to your area(s) of interest, whether that is marketing, development, box office, or general management.
Responsibilities
Internship responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
General Office – Provide general office support including answering phones, copying, mailing, assisting with and attending weekly staff meetings, day-of concert support, and various other administrative tasks as assigned.
Marketing – Assist the Director of Communications and Director of Sales with implementing marketing strategies to help the Sinfonietta gain additional recognition, assemble and distribute promotional materials, fulfill in-kind donation requests. Assist Box Office & Digital Media Manager with social media and general website maintenance.
Box Office – Provide support to the Box Office & Digital Media Manager, assisting with ticket orders, seating, ticket mailing, will-call.
Development - Assist Director of Development and Development Associate with grant research, annual fund, special event planning.
Education/Outreach – Create student program notes for Chicago Public School student concertgoers. Provide support to the Director of Education/Outreach.
Ideal Qualifications
Organized, hard working undergraduate or graduate student studying arts, music, management, marketing or a related field.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Ability to work independently and follow through on a variety of projects.
Working knowledge of the latest social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
Previous marketing experience a plus.

Production Intern
The Chicago Sinfonietta is currently accepting applications for a Production Intern. The intern will work closely with the Sinfonietta’s Production Manager/Librarian to produce concerts at Symphony Center, Harris Theater for Music and Dance and Dominican University. Sample duties include:
1. Assisting in preparations for concert productions, including organizing equipment for rehearsals and performances, and communicating with guest artists.
2. Organizing, cataloging and maintaining archives of recordings and program notes.
3. Assisting with library duty such as copying and distributing music
4. General office duties
Ideal candidates will have a desire to learn about concert production and an interest in the performing arts.
Days/Hours: Preferred candidates should be available to work approximately 5 hours per week plus all rehearsals and concerts.
Salary: This is an unpaid position.
